We've spent the last year talking to people who run creator campaigns for a living. Brand marketers, agency owners, freelance influencer managers, founders doing it themselves at 11pm. The same handful of things keep coming up, and honestly most of them have nothing to do with software.
We trained Scout to handle the parts a machine should handle. But there's still a few things worth knowing to drive the boat. This is that guide.
By the end you'll have gone from the idea of a campaign to having messaged 10-20 of the best creators for your brand. Most of them will quote you somewhere between $20 and $60 per thousand expected views, which puts a typical first deal between $500 and $5,000.

Most creator directories have you fill out the filter form before you see a single result. Category, subscriber range, engagement rate, price. It's shopping for shoes by describing the shoe (color, "lifestyle" vs "casual", size) before you're allowed to look at one.
So you guess: okay, here's 200 creators…. only 100 are worth what they charge… ~20 of them are good… I message 10… 5 respond… end up working with 2 of them.
Spreadsheets, watching videos, hours sorting. All for 2 deals.
Scout starts from the other end. Describe what you sell, or point at a sponsorship that already worked on you, and you get a list worth reaching out to.
Enjoy, Evan (Babbl)
